Neuer Mitbewohner

Montag ist und darum geht natuerlich alles viel langsamer heute. Aber eigentlich war ja gestern und vorgestern schon alles viel ruhiger. So hab ich zwar am Samstag noch ein Geburtstagsgeschenk auf Wunsch von Midi fuer die Party am Sonntag gemacht, aber weil alles so eingeschlafen war, hab ich natuerlich kein Bild gemacht. Tja, selber schuld heisst das wohl. Umso mehr freu ich mich, dass heute Herr Hase eingezogen ist *g* Darf ich vorstellen:
It's Monday and of course everything goes very slow today. Well acutally it was the same yesterday and the day before. So I made an other birthday present as it was my little girls wish for the party on Sunday but I forgot to make a picture. My fault! The more I am happy that today Mr. Rabbit moved in *g* May I present:

Schooltesting

Heute mal nur eine kurze Nachricht von einer stolzen Mama: Mein Sohn hat mir so zwischen Zaehneputzen und Uniformanziehen erklaert, dass in seiner Klasse gerade Tests durchgefuehrt werden. Heute darf einer aus der Klasse einen Mathematiktest schreiben. Auf die Frage warum er den nicht schreibt, meint er nur ganz gelassen, er habe den ja gestern schon geschrieben und er darf in die 2te Klasse gehn! Ahhhhhhhhhh! Kind hat die Erlaubnis aufzusteigen und berichtet dies mit einer Gelassenheit dass es zum aus der Haut fahren ist. Aber er hat ja recht. Ich habe niemals daran gezweifelt, dass er im Herbst nicht in der naechsten Klasse ist. Ich denke da haetten wir schon fruehr diesbezuegliche Informationen erhalten, aber trotzdem! Eigentlich waere diese Information ja eine Party wert :)
Today just a short notice from a proud Mum: my son told me between brushing his teeth and getting dressed for school, that today a classmate will have a mathstest. When I asked him why he doesn't have to write the test, he told me that he allready did it yesterday and teacher told him that he can go to the 2nd class next year.  Ahhhhhhhhh! My little child got the authorization to go to the next class and he tells it like it would be totally clear. He is right! I never thought that he will not be going to the 2nd class but anyway! Actually this information needs a party :)

Summer and Sunshine

Ach das Wochenende war echt herrlich! Gemuetlich in der Sonne am Meer sitzen, Eis essen und am Abend noch Grillen. Die Kinder haben natuerlich einige Sandburgen gebaut und sich auch mal im warmen Sand gewaelzt. Die beiden grossen haben sich am Sonntag sogar weit ins Wasser gewagt.
The weekend was wounderfull. Realxing in the sun at the sea, eating ice cream and in the evening made a lovely bbq. The kids made a lot of sand castles and were rolling themselfs in the sand. The big ones dare into the water on Sunday.

So schoene Tage koennte es noch ein paar mal geben, aber wenn man den Iren glauben will, dann sind das die zwei Wochen Sommer hier. Da kann man nur hoffen, dass sie sich auch dieses Mal wieder irren, wie sie es schon so manches mal in diesem Jahr getan haben.

There could be some more days as beautiful as this but if you belive the Irish this two weeks will be the summer. I just hope that the Irish are wrong again this time like they have been several times this year.

Irish Day in School

Eigentlich ist dieser Tag schon ganz lang her und die Kinder bereiten sich in der Schule schon auf Ferien vor, aber heute morgen, als wir uns endlich ueber die verbleibende Schuldauer informiert haben, haben wir die Bilder gefunden. Das war unser Irish Day in der Schule.
The day was long ago in school and the kids are now starting to get finished for the holidays but this morning we found on the webpage the fotos of this special day when we were informing ourself how long the school will go on. That was the Irish Day in school.
Mit Schrecken mussten wir feststellen, dass es nur noch fuenf Wochen bis zur grossen Sommerpause sind. So lange sind wir nun also schon hier! Fast ein ganzes Schuljahr ist vergangen. Herbst, Winter und Fruehling haben wir erlebt (wobei ja hier jeder sagt, dass dieses Jahr ganz anders ist als sonst) und wir stecken mitten im Sommer. Ja man kann es kaum glaube, aber hier ist der Sommer angekommen. Die Iren kleiden sich in Sandalen und kurzen Hosen (aber das tun sie auch sobald der Kalender den Sommerbeginn anzeigt). Wenn ich so die Briefe von Freunden lese, dann haben in unserer alten Heimat wohl ganz viele den dicken Pulli wieder ausgepackt. Merkwuerdig, dabei kann ich mich erinnern am 1. Mai schon oefter im Schwimmbad gelegen zu sein. So aendern sich wohl die Zeiten.
We were really surprised when we found out that there are just five weeks left until the break starts. So now whe almost finishe a schoolyear in Ireland. Wow! Autum, winter and spring we saw (even if all the irish are telling me that this year is really special and normally it is not that dry than it was the last months) and we are in the middle of the summer. I can't believebut it is wounderful sunshine, warm and no rain since days.  The irish start to dress in sandals and short trousers (but they also do so as soon as the calender tells them that the summer started). When I read letters I get from Austria they tell me that they have unpacked the winter pullovers. Strange! I can remember swimming in the open air pool on the first of May when the saison started. Thats how time is changing!

Pupil of the week

Montag geht hier meist alles ein wenig langsamer. Das Wochenende war wieder aufregend dank der regenfreien Tage und einem Ausflug auf die Petfarm und so dauert es eben am morgen doch seine Zeit bis alle fertig und schulklar sind. Der Vormittag zu Hause gestaltet sich dann meist auch noch sehr ruhig. Aber als haette ich eine Ahnung gehabt, dass daraus noch ein besonderer Tag wird, habe ich noch vor dem Schulende Pancakes gemacht. Eines der Lieblingsessen von Sohnemann und seit wir hier sind natuerlich mit Zucker und Zitrone. Die gute Marmelade hat ausgedient. Also Pancakes in den Ofen und ab zur Schule. Midi muss zwar abgeholt werden, doch sie durfte heute wieder mal zu einer Schulfreundin gehn. Also nur noch auf Sohnemann warten und ab nach Hause zum Mittagessen. Tja! Sohnemann hatte es allerdings so eilig, dass er an allen vorbeigespurtet ist! Kurz vor dem Haus habe ich ihn mit einem Smile von einem Ohr zum anderen gefunden und in den Haenden hilt er:

Oh wie stolz er doch ist, dass er nun auch endlich "Pupil of the Week" ist und einen ganz tollen Stift bekommen hat! Das hast du ganz toll gemacht!

On Mondays here it is all a little bit slow going. The weekend was exciting because of the rain-free days and the excursion to a petfarm and so it needs a little more time to get ready for school. Also the time before lunch was much more relaxed this day and like I knew that something special will happen today I desided to make pancakes for lunch. Thats one of the favourite dishes from my son and since we are here of course eaten with sugar and lemon. No more jam! So! Pancakes are finished and put into the oven to keep warm and off to school. We also have to pick up our littel girl even if she was going to a friend. After that we just had to wait for our boy but he was so happy today that he just run home noticing anything around him. I found him almost infront of our house and he had a big smile on his face and in his hands he was holding a paper with "Pupil of the week". Finally after such a long time he got it and a pencil for beeing the best! You have done a great job!

A friends Birthday

Manchmal denke ich, alle Kinder in Irland haben zur gleichen Zeit Geburtstag so jagt eine Feier die naechste. So durfte Grosskind letzten Samstag einen Schulfreund hoch leben lassen und morgen gleich den naechsten. Dieses mal ist es aber auch wenig traurig, denn in wenigen Wochen wird er zurueck in die USA gehn und wer weiss, ob die Freundschaft bestehen bleibt. Auf jeden Fall habe ich Grosskind den Wunsch erfuellt und ein kleines Dinosauriertascherl gemacht. Morgen wird es noch mit einer Kleinigkeit gefuellt werden (wir wollen ja nicht an den horrenden Kosten fuer Uebergepaeck verantwortlich sein) und dann geht es ab zur Party dieses mal im Swimming Pool! Wir sind alle schon ganz neugierig wie es den Kindern gefallen wird.
Sometimes it looks like all kids are born at the same time. My son is going from one party to the next. He was at the party from one classmate last Saturday and he is going to the party from another one tomorrow. But this time it is different because Max is going home to the US in some weeks and nobody knows how the friendship will go on. So I tried to fulfill my sons wish and made a little dinosaur-bag. Tomorrow we will fill it with a trifle (it should not be our fault that they have to pay for the overweight bags) and than he is off to the party in a swimming pool. We are very keen to see if the kids like it!

Manchmal ist es auch notwendig, dass man lieben Menschen danke sagt und so moechte ich heute noch meiner Trauzeugin DANKE sagen. Danke dass sie an den meinen Hochzeitstag gedacht hat (den natuerlich mein Mann auch nicht vergessen hat!!!) und auch fuer die vielen lieben Kleinigkeiten! Schoen dass es dich gibt :)
Sometimes it is time to say Thank you to loved people and so I want to say Thank you to my maid of honour! Thank You that you did not forget the day and for all the lovely little things. I am glad you are my friend :)

Warum nicht zwei mal Muttertag feiern?

Heute ist Muttertag. Wirklich? Einen Schotten konnte ich heute damit ganz schoen aus der Ruhe bringen. *gg* Nein, in Irland ist heute kein Muttertag. Der war schon mitten in der Fastenzeit. Die Iren schauen auf die schlanke Linie ihrer Mamas ;)
Today is Mothersday. Really? A scottish was really confused when I told him in the morning. *gg* No, in Ireland is no mothersday today it was allready in lent. The irish take care of their mothers shape ;)

Aber es war trotzdem ein ganz besonderer Tag und den haben wir fuer einen Ausflug nach Kylemore Abbey genutzt. Ein wunderschoenes Schloss an einem der vielen "Seen" hier in der Gegend. Ein kurzer Spaziergang durch den Wald fuehrte uns zu einem Garten mit Teahouse und zwei ganz zutraulichen Eseln. Die Kinder durften auch ein wenig bei der Neubepflanzung helfen. Nur aus dem "practise your english" wurde nichts, denn die Gaertnerin war eine deutsche Studentin auf Sommerjob *gg*
Anyway today was a special day and so we went of to Kylemore Abbey. This is a beautiful castle at one of the lakes around here. A short walk through the woods brought us to a wounderful garden with a teahouse and two trusting donkeys. The kids were also allowed to help in the garden. They only could not practise their english because the gadener was a student from Germany doing a sumerjob *gg* 

Unser grosser war natuerlich von dem Schachspiel im Zimmer fasziniert und musst gleich genau herausfinden, wie der Spielstand ist *gg*
Our son was faszinatet from the chess game in one of the rooms and he had to find out who is winning the game *gg*

Man mag es ja kaum glauben, aber bisher konnten wir die Schafe in der Gegend an einer Hand abzaehlen. Bei den Ausfahrten gab es schon immer Wetten, wer als erster ein Schaf findet, aber das hat sich nun geaendert. Heute hat es zum ersten Mal Schafe auch auf der Strasse gegeben. Mit welcher Ruhe sie am Strassenrand gegrast haben oder mitten auf der Strasse gewandert sind.
I think nobody believes us when we say that we could count the sheeps we found on our last trips with one hand. We were always betting who will be the first to see a sheep, but today that changed. It was the first time that we found sheeps on the street. Nothing could disturb them grazing at the roadside or walking in the middle of the street.
